 Biostart
Ltd. is among the most rapidly developing small enterprises in
Bulgaria in the field of organic agriculture and the organic foods industry.
The company was established in April 2003 by the Regional Development
Agency in Velingrad with the ambition to offer in Bulgaria and to international
markets unique bio-products that have a guarantee of origin from clean
natural environments, excellent nutritious qualities and valuable health
properties. We are engaged in three main areas:
- Wildcrafting,
drying and processing of berries, mushrooms and herbs from the region
of the Western Rhodope Mountain, which is currently in the process
of receiving Natural Park status.
- Production
and processing of organic products, including cultivation of herbs
and spices and production of organic fruit and vegetable preserves
with a low sugar content.
- Sale
of high-quality organic products produced exclusively by our company.

At
Biostart Ltd., we specialize in developing, perfecting
and promoting an extended range of organic foodstuffs that are traditional
to Bulgaria's national cuisine, as well as attractive new products. In doing
this, we look back at old recipes from the Rhodope region, while drawing
on the latest organic research and technologies. Each of our products is
only made by hand in small series, and with stringent quality assurance
measures in place, at the Production Facility for Rhodope Local Products.
Our production infrastructure also includes our own trial plot with a nursery
and a dryer. The Business Information Center is in charge of marketing,
including market demand analysis, and sales, and is your source of up-to-date
information about all of our products as well as current pricelists. All
products of Biostart Ltd. are currently undergoing the established procedure
for organic certification from the UK-based Soil Association, whose symbol
of organic produce is internationally recognized in Europe, Asia and America.
An essential
aspect of our corporate policy is initiating and successfully implementing
a number of innovative projects in alternative agriculture in the Rhodope
region. Our best practices have served as a baseline for designing nationally
important sustainable development projects in Bulgaria, and our experience
is now being replicated in 8 regions across the country. Biostart Ltd. is
an excellent illustration of finding the right track that leads towards
